Is there any way this could happen with out smoke coming from under the hood. What I mean could it come out of the exhaust instead from under the hood?

No. Dripping oil wouldn't cause smoke in the exhaust, though it may not mecessarily come from under the hood (out the hood scoop).

i would just change the hose, and put a clamp on, not trying to be a wise ***, i do not even have a turbo but, what the hell if it is a cheap fix, maybe get a stainless steel braideed one and use that, a 5 dollar problem turning into a milliion dollar disaster.
i have personally never seen it but what the helll do you have to lose. see if there is a better way to do it.
