Anyone Mod their 06 WRX yet?

Just wondering what has changed from the 05-06 2.5L that could not be used from 05 WRX's?

As an example:
Exhaust systems? are these interchangable?
Suspension? Would the swaybars/links be interchangable?
Wheels? Whats the bolt pattern?
Catted Uppipe? or did they take the Legacy route and remove the precat?

Thanks,

outside of the bigger changes from 04 to 05 like wheels and suspension, the changes to the 06 have been more subtle. All the parts you mentioned should be the same from 05 to 06, and all years of US STIs have catless up-pipes

Thanks,

Do you know if the 06 WRX has a catless uppipe? I know the Legacy 2.5l went that route in 06.

all the 2.5 liter turbo engines have catless uppipes, they use and air injection system instead of the metal substrate cat in the uppipe like the 2.0 rexes.

with the exeption of the sti that has never used a cat in the uppipe or an air injection system for cold start emissions.

So would there be any benefit in upgrading to say... a Helix Uppipe? Or is the stock pipe just as efficient and free flowing?

So I just tried to install my some exhaust pieces today.

Guess what!, My Scooby sport DP will not fit! They changed the exhaust system lenghts.

DP is shorter by ~4"
2nd Cat is longer
Midpipe has a s curve in the piping right after the donut flange.

Only my axle back would fit.

From talking with others I think if I install a full turbo back and not try and leave any OEM pieces in that It should work.

Im just as curious...

and will the S curve have any effect on aftermarket pieces? meaning... if we try installing a tbe meant for an '04, would it matter that it doesnt have the S bend? <-- that S curve sounds like a horsepower killing strategy...

I know this engine is capable of soooo much power, i can just sense it...

So how about wheel hole spacing? What is it?

Do you know if a 04-05 WRX swaybar will fit as well as endlinks?

Thanks,

brian

After looking at it again if you have a cat back it should fit. Looks like the s curve just moves the pipe toward the drivers side to accomidate the larger resonator and then brings the pipe back in line with the 3rd cat flange.

I've been told that the SPT cat back fits and I know my axle back fits so things must line up correctly.

I have some pics if you want to send me your email or host them?

I too own an 06 WRX, I called Greddy and they told me that 05 cat back exhaust fits the 06. I think the springs are different from 05 to 06. I know the car is 2" longer in 06.
