2004 STI- Dyno with 100 Octane
I just wanted to post my dyno results, I had Easy Street Motorsports reflash my ECU for my 2004 STI, here is ther results:
Mods: None, stock
Fuel: 100 Octane 76 Competition Racing Fuel
Baseline WHP: 240 WHP
Re-Flash WHP : 274 WHP
Boost peaked at about 18 psi and exhaust temps were well under the damage
level for the stock cats, this is due to the high quality fuel keeping exhaust temps lower even with increase in boost.
Just though you would like to know.

This is a great example of how gas effects the performance of this car.......only negative is the cost of the fuel....$4.99/gallon, but you are gaining about 35 horsepower on the wheels...the idea situation would be a manual flash to the 100 octane map...but the OBD2 on the STI is not compatable. You need to piggy back it.

That's awesome. Someone just spent $2k doing the same thing with Vishnu's TBE and Xede granted it was on 91 octane.
By the way, the fuel doesn't burn cooler. It burns hotter. Octane rating determines how easily it ignites. Higher octane ignites at a higher temp preventing pre-ignition or knock.
The temps are good because the tune is providing the proper a/f ratio.
Are you planning on running 100 in it all the time?

im sorry, i am a little confused.
You ran 240whp with 100 octane before the reflash, and then 270whp with 100 octane after the reflash?
Or did you mean that you ran 240whp on normal 93 octane gas, then put in 100 octance and ran again for 270whp?
When you say "reflashed" does that mean just loading a different fuel map into your ecu? Also, I guess this means you dont have a stock ecu?
Sorry... but thanks!
