okay, i burnt my cluth at 7000 .... ridiculous....
my last subbie 2001 rs impreza.....i raced more than u could thinkand yes will admit drove it as hard as i could...but with
this 2004 i take it easy for the break in period ..and i end up with a burnt to **** clutch.....i've been reading and hearing, and from my driving experience the clutch is weak weak weak...you cant get the true power of the car without tearing the clutch apart.
is anyone else finding this to be true ??? or have any ideas to help not burn a second one...and no i'm not red lining it in any gear...and does getting a new non-subaru clutch kill my warnaty..is it considered adding more horse power???
please help..thanx andrea

I think the clutch for the STI is pretty good, i drive it to the 1/4 and autoX track. the clutch is good to get the power to the ground, but i can smell the clutch( i think this is my problem). but overall is pretty good.

So is your clutch slipping badly at 7k miles or does it just smell burnt?? I get the burnt smell alot also, especially if I'm riding the clutch in traffic, but haven't experienced ne slipping yet.

yeah, i get the burnt smell all the time when trying to creep uphill into a parking space or trying to get it unstuck from the snow...generally in situations that it never happened to me in my integra. i think the clutch is not really weak as far as subaru clutches go, but as far as imports....yeah maybe they have some things to learn. i just assumed that smell once in a while was 'normal'.
