06 wrx 2.5 convert to 06 sti spec?
hi I'm like the 06 wrx wagon the most more then even the sti I just wondering what to do to at least make a '' sti wagon'' ( no flaming ) but I think it would both rock and be unique . any feedback on ease or practicallity is wecolmed. after all it is just differnt heads turbo and fuel etc right nothing major with the weak trannies ( dealer said they come from the forester therefore stronger) thanx!

Not practical in the least. You'd probably end up spending another $10,000 (don't forget labor costs and the time it would take to swap everything). Some differences:
Struts and springs
Brembo brakes (front and rear)
Wheels/tires
6 speed tranny and front axles
aluminum control arms
front and rear swaybars
R180 rear diff/axles
front and rear hubs
front and middle LSD (DCCD with its various sensors)
Turbo
ECU
Interior
Hoodscoop
Intercooler
Waterspray
driveshaft
And lots of other small things. It's much cheaper to buy the STi, if you want an STi, rather than trying to convert to one.

While a lot of things you might just upgrade anyway (wheels/tires, suspension, turbo, fueling, hoodscoop, etc.) even if you bought the STi, the drivetrain and tranny alone are worth the price differential between the WRX and STi.

Lets not forget though, the new 2.5 L powerplant in the 06 WRX gets the WRX closer to the STI than ever before. IMO, now that they upgraded the 06 WRX (2.0 to a 2.5) they need to upgrade the STI from the 2.5 to a H-6!!!! If it wasn't for the $20,000 pricetag to buy the H-6 and do a complete build up, I would do it my self...

Yep... A stage 2 06 WRX will straight up walk away from a stock STi... But of course the smaller turbo does run out of steam early...
Try building the car up the way you want to... If you want it to have the exclusivity of an STI, try to use genuine Subaru or STI parts... body panels etc... really are you going to go through the trouble of changing out the tranny? if anything do the turbo, heads, etc... but going as far as tranny and drivetrain... ehhhhh.... bit too much if you ask me... No matter what you do, it wont be genuine, only because it didnt come that way. So customize to YOUR liking, but if you want it to look genuine, use genuine parts... I guess thats the best I can offer!
Just another opinion goodluck!
