your power hungry advice

now's the time of year when my tax return comes in. i have a close to 2 grand to spend but im thinking of only spending a grand on performance mods, specifically for the best bang for the buck. im currently running an AP stage 2, lightweight pulley, and a DP (everything else stock). i know for sure that i will be getting tuned sometime this year and im leaning towards running a EWG. im most likely going to push the stock turbo to 17psi and hopefully have a good bottom end torquey car.

does anyone have any suggestions or am i heading in the right direction?

td06 20g, big FMIC, Fuel pump, oil feed line, install, tune

should be right around 2K if you do it right and will make your car a beast.

only a grand, i would just tune it and go with some suspension parts and new tires, if you dont already have them.

just my .02

o yeah its been a while since i modded my car so i forgot to add that i also have an uppipe... im not really into loud exhausts; id rather hear the turbo spool and have the power to back it up. any thoughts on running a prodrive oval, maddad intermediate, ewg, plus a protune?

well seeing as the cat-back portion of the exhaust is part of the stage 2 set up, I'd suggest getting one I'm running the Borla Hush right now and I love it. Not too loud, but loud enough to bring a smile to my face....without bringing a frown to a cops face

I also heart the Borla Hush. I love the sound and it looks damn near stock too which is a plus side in this area.

borla hush makes a great quiet exhaust and perrin makes a dual tip exhaust also, buts its a little more money.

cobb ap v2 = 600-700 dollars
protune = 250

that will be a good power gain and will keep your exhaust quiet.

I'm assuming you are running a 2.0L since you mentioned getting an uppipe.

I would NOT recommend a TD06 turbo for a 2.0L, leave those to a 2.5L.

FACT: The stock turbo(TD04L-13T) is actually efficient in midrange to well above 20psi.

If you plan on sticking w/ the stock turbo upgrade the TMIC & go EWG w/ a custom tune. Tune it to 20psi in midrange & ~14-15psi at topend.

you can always port and polish the stock turbo. then ceramic coat it. you can get that done pretty cheap, if you can afford the downtime.

^^^just to let you know, if you get an ewg, youll need to get the wastegate on the turbo welded shut. more money and downtime.
