WRX Top Speed

yep yep,... I for one was actually quite disappointed with the highspeed behavior of my WRX. I even have Eibach Prokit springs. It felt very unpredictable and unstable. My 240sx feels like a rockettrain on rails at those high speeds, Much more stable.

Anybody who says the WRX is solid as a rock at 135-140 must have some suspension mods cuz Ive gone 140 on the freeway and some slight curves in the road were freakin scary. I felt like the car had no control at all and I immediately slowed down. Thats my personal experience.

I just got busted doing 96 last night on an open stretch of highway, that going to hurt my wallet a little I guess the funny part of the experience was when the officers partner started asking me all kinds of wrx questions, what mods I had etc... He is interested in getting one and was impressed at how easily I accelerated to 96 (damn Jetta's need to stay in the slow lane ).

okay, i think we've come to an agreement that wrx is FAST enough...hehe...but can anyone tell me when you do go past 70 mph, does the car feel like it's flying? or is the chasis heavy enough to a point where u dont really feel like your driving so fast? thanks

Don't believe everything you read, a lot of the time the car magazines get test mule cars when they do initial reports. Hence a lot of suspicion when it comes to STi vs. Evo reports (magazine suspicions, not mine). In fact, if you read Sport Compact Car, they report on such discrepencies. If you read the initial report on the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V and also read follow up reports you'll see a lot of differences between initial report and subsequent production reports.
Also, to get your WRX to go faster than 130... press the accelerator down harder. You don't even have to shift out of 5th gear.

how long does it take you guys to get to 140? I haven't really tried doing a top speed run since im normally not out that late cause of school and all but when summer comes i will go out late when theres no cars. Couple time i've tried and 4th gear still pulls and i shift around 6600rpm cause if i go to 7,000 it takes forever since theres no boost really. Then once in 5th at about 125-130 i don't pull at all. And the road was slightly downhill. Should i be shifting sooner or whats the deal? My only mods are mbc and ic hoses.

When you're pulling to such an unreasonable speed I don't think pace is an issue. I was already in 5th gear and just got curious, pressed the accelerator to the floor and just went... I was already going 70mph so... I think it took a while since I was already in 5th. If I were in 4th it would've been much faster... I'd venture to say......... it took about 20 seconds to get to 135, maybe a bit shorter. Mind you, I live around 3500 ft. elevation and the weather was a tad warm that day.
