Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

I've search for similar topics and found some crappy results. Maybe he did search, maybe not. Whatever. The tranmission is fine for the stock WRX if one doesn't pop the clutch or do high RPM launches. However, under those driving conditions the clutch will wear out or the transmission will break eventually, depending on whether or not the clutch is slipped or popped.

Now, there are people with stock internals and stage 4 setups that are running with no problems. 350+ HP isn't even a big deal, really.

My car makes 216hp at the wheels with the "updated" 02 WRX clutch and stock transmission. As long as you're slow and steady on the clutch it feels very good, no clutch burning yet, and it's been about a month since the car was put at that horsepower number and no problems yet. I would estimate the stock clutch and tranny cannot handle much more power than this...also as I said you have to go slow with the clutch thought i'd reiterate that.

My biggest problem pushing higher than 300 FHP was the tendency of the sock transmission to unravel at high speeds...
