I chose to leave mine on for the obvious heat soak problem, but also leaves it more stock looking. I cut mine per Perrin's instructions, I was going to post a pic, but the instructions on his site are now pictureless???

Years ago I left the turbo heat shield off when I installed a 16G on my Talon and I wound up with melted wires.

I learned my lesson.
