What turbo and fmic to use on an ej20g block?
I picked up an EJ20g on sunday for an amazing price and decided it was time to start my swap project. I'm very new to engine modifications, as I have hold back on engine mods until I got my swap started.
I surfed nasioc and clubwrx for a bit and found that the 18g spools fairly quickly and holds boost to redline on the ej205 motors. I don't know if the FP18g is compatible with the ej20g. I'm looking to put down at least 300awhp.
Also, do I need to watch out for what FMIC I'm going to pick? I was told to make sure that the fmic piping doesn't restrict the airflow from the turbo by having too small of a piping diameter. I was thinking of either a greddy fmic or cx racing.
Any help given will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

yo
vincent?
I would say stick with tmic if you are only shooting for 300whp. A 18g with a big tmic with supporting mods should get you to 300.
but when you say 300whp..... on which dyno?

I was told by ECS that the setup on the jdm ej20g block is different from the usdm. Here's what they said word for word
The issue in the Intake tract. On the US engines it runs through the underside of the manifold and straight into the turbo. Where as the JDM comes off the turbo on a 90 degree and then around the side of the engine to an intake box. Its very different. You will need to make something custom if you want to change the turbo.
Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah if just want to drop in a turbo with no modification to the intake path you would have to get a turbo with a 90 degree inlet.
