Best uppipe --

Best downpipe...whatever fits your budget and fits with no problems. You have to decide it you want catted or non-catted, depending on how much you care about emmissions. I would stay away from HKS, Ive heard lots of bad stuff about them.

up n dp

What's up everyone! I have a question for up and dp, I was really thinking of purchasing the helix pipes because I read a lot of positive things about the product, but the con is I live in cali and the smog and emmissions test here are really strict, lets not forget the cops as well. Is there an alternative to where I could get faster spool up time in my turbo and where it is still legal in the state of cali?

high flow cats will give a little quicker spool, but even those are considered "illegal" when it comes to CARB law. Any modification to the exhaust system of a car, including by not limited to unbolting, changing parts for higher flow, more sound, etc. is illegal.

but hey, if they pull you over, you'll either get a fixit ticket for the exhaust, in which case you put the stock one on, get it signed off and pay 10 bux, or you get sent to the referee, in which case you've gotta put your stock stuff on, pay the referee cost (like 45 I think) and pay the 10 bux for the ticket.

when you feel that boost build soooo much harder, I think it's worth the risk

^^ same here. I too live in Cali and the reward outweighs the risk. Don't drive like an a$$ hat.

I love the feel of the helix catless power! dont drive like an idiot and youre safe....chances are that if you get pulled over its not going to be because you were catless (although some cities have things to tell who has an exhaust system that needs to be fixed) it'll be because you were doing something else wrong

Hks

i liked the look of the HKS catback (Hyper) and kept everything the same up and downpipe. although the downpipe in not a good design the fit and finish along with price and sound are good. whatever you get iam sure you'll enjoy.

+1 for the helix DP price was right too when I bought it. I am soon to be running a gutted stock UP. Dig around there are dyno sheets showing same HP as aftermarket UP.

Plus if you live in a overly senstive smog area they'll know nothing more and think your stock. I have to get smog test next year and I'll swap out the TB exhaust but no thanks on the Upipe that's a real pita!
