Vishnu vs. Cobb reflash?
Hey, y'all. I'm pretty new to this game, after recently ditching my '02 Civic SI hatch for an '02 WRX sedan, and now that I'm driving something worthy of tuning, I'm ready to go.
I've been looking into a re-flash, among other things, and have read up heavily on the Vishnu upgrade path. That's where I'm leaning at the moment; however, some people I've talked to swear by the Cobb reflash. What are the opinions and preferences here? Realistically, I'm not aiming at going too heavy-duty; Plans are a reflash, boost controller, and the usual up/downpipe/exhaust/intake combo for good, reliable power for a daily driver. Any thoughts would be very appreciated.

I would get your car tuned personally by ______. It is best to have it done in person. Yes Vishnu and Cobb can reflash your computer but what is good for one car may not be good for the other. If there are enough people in your area that want to get tuned Shiv will come out and tune cars. Same for a guy Clark or AZscooby (I think). That would be the best thing to do.
You would be looking at around $200 for the tuning and about $500-700 for the Ecutek reflash.

I recommend Cobb. It's cheaper and Cobb has been tuning Subarus since the dawn of time. Subarus is all they do. You could get a little more power out of a personally-tuned reflash, but the off-the-shelf reflash is less-expensive and every bit as safe, if not safer.

Your absolutely correct. Cobb does tune conseratively and I think the stage 1 is very safe. I think stage two is a little more risky. With so many different turboback exhausts out there and of course people will eventually add a couple more bolt ons because we all love too. Next thing you know you could have a car that is way outside the parameters originally designed by Cobb. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the help here.
My main problem with dyno tuning and a custom job is finding a shop around here that can do it, and someone that has WRX experience. I live in southern New Hampshire, and there's *nothing* around here that can put up WRX experience and an AWD Dyno. That's why I figured a basic level tune from Vishnu or Cobb would do the trick. Does anyone have any knowledge of a shop in the VT/NH/CT/MA area that can handle this kind of tuning?
