02 wrx
Catless dp

walbro fuel pump
Samco Turbo Inlet
3in Exhaust.
WRX tmic

I was having misfire problems but i got it solved..and then drove it around and found that i am only running about 10-11 psi i was wondering if its the intercooler that i am running that isn't reaching stock boost...or is it vacumm line..anyways any help would be great..thanx

My buddy just got his STI tuned and his turbo would only hold 10-11psi. The next day he took the turbo off and found a crack in the wastegate that went all the way to the uppipe flange. Get ur turbo looked at

The TMIC isn't the problem. The vf39's stock wastegate pressure is set around 10psi so it looks like you have a problem with the wastegate actuator or a signal line to it. What I think is happening is your turbo is trying to create around 15psi, but the wg is opening at around 10 bc there's nothing telling it to stay shut. Hope that helps.

Using a laptop and logging more info would be helpful. Also, how are you reading boost? Do you have a guage or are you reading it from the AP?

Size of the top mount IC has nothing to do with his problem. You're confusing people.

Did the vf39 come with the correct restrictor pill?

Do you think he's still using his stock turbo lines where the restrictor pill should be? I'm not sure what the 13T came with.

You should be hitting boost fine right now, or at least close to it. Keep looking for the problem before you go and see your tuner for a protune.

i had the same problem. get a good boost controller and bypass the oem boost control solenoid. if that honestly does not help then you have a leak somewhere, either a vacuum line or your intercooler. i would also recommend replacing your intercooler to a bigger one because it might not be able to handle the boost cause its so small. i put a tmic which is 21"x12"x4.5". 40% bigger than the sti's and never had 1 problem.

So you're recommending he should replace his TMIC bc it's too small for over 10psi? That does not make any sense. If anything a smaller top mount will hit target boost faster. Try to help him find the problem.

Problem solved..kinda silly...I found the restrictor pill on the wrong side..I found it located from in between the wastegate and the "T" Heres the picture I pilled up from cobbtunning.com of where the restrictor pill should be located..

When i did the install i didn't know that the lines were switched. the vacumm lines were already attached when i installed it.. I am now hitting 18.5psi on wrx tmic..still waiting for the sti tmic tho.. thanx!

Hey thanks for asking the question and thanks all for your help . I actually used the search and read everyone elses problems. My problem was boost kicking out at around 7 psi and the wastegate opening fully and letting out all my boost and making the car surge. I just bought this car a few weeks ago and it was previosly modded with most of the mods removed. turns out the factory boost pill was removed. Thank you DB tuned as I got the idea to check this from your post. +2 for DB tuned.
