vf 30 vs vf 22

ok guys, need all of your oppinions, i seriously keep going back and forth... i have all of the supporting mods and allready have a vf 30 sitting in my garage, but i think i will try and sell it for a vf 22.... i really cant decide, what are al of yor thoughts. i really dont mind the lag. and i hear that people get bored with the vf 30...

help me, whatdo i do?

also does any one know how much a vf 22 is new?

the going rate for a VF22 seems to be right around $600. the VF30 boosts quicker than a VF22, but not as high and it runs out of steam earlier than a VF22. both are a significant upgrade over stock. What do you want to do with the car? Drag? Auto-X? Street car only?

i like drag, but i also like auto cross, but they are not as important to me as having a fast street car... i dont worry about the lag that much either the more i have talked around, the more i tthink the vf22 is what i want, i just wanted to make sure that people liked it

I have driven WRXs with both and I own the vf22. The biggest difference is the top-end power. The lag difference is not very noticible (i.m.h.o.). I have a buddy who has the vf30 and has the same "power" mods and I walk away from him at any speed above 60mph. It's just a matter of physics. If you live stop light to stop light you may want that little extra jump the vf30 will give you. But if you live up top you will want the vf22.

Scott@S-Squared on here has a VF22 and love it. My car is automatic, so the VF22 was never an option.

maybe you could get a vf34 what are the big difference between the vf30 and the vf34? i heard somewhere that the vf22 is 8 years old that alone is a reason not to get it. if you can get 300awhp out of a vf34 which i think you can im sure that is plenty, youd be un beatlable pretty much. and i guess it depends on what you want, the vf22 is more of a "freeway" turbo i think and the 30 and 34 more of a twisties and street turbo. im going to get the vf34 because that is really what i want and it will do fine for the high speed freeway stuff i do which is almost nothing.

well, the vf34 is not going to hurt your highway performance at all. the biggest difference between the VF30 and VF34 is the center section. the VF30 has a sleeve bearing and the VF34 has ball bearings. the VF34 supposedly spools a hair faster, but they're both almost the same price now. the VF22 might be an older design, but it's not outdated in any way.

Thumbs up

I have also been debating this (VF-34 vs. VF-22) lately also... I heard the top-end with the VF-22s are KILLER!!! Gruppe-S has the VF-22s for $599 now, so I may be taking the same route as you DJTEN4! Keep us posted once you get your injectors and tune!
