Turbo issues
Hey guys, I've got a 02' WRX Wagon with a Blitz SS BOV, HKS turbo timer, and removed silencer. My car started to act up after it iced over here in Dallas. I get a weird fluttering noise when the turbo is spooling that will go away when it warms up, but if the car idles for a while, it comes back. I pulled the code, which was the EGT sensor and am about to fix that. However, whenever i hit about 5.5K rpms, i can hear the motor detonating and there is a noticeable loss in power all over the RPM range. The only codes i was throwing were the EGT and my gas cap (it showed up twice). Whenever i reset the ECU, the CEL comes back up when i drive on the freeway for more then 15 minutes. Any suggestions on what to do to make my car run normally? I do put a lot of miles on the car, i'm at 17K and have only had the car since january and bought it new, but the oil is changed religiously. Thanks for the help before hand.

not good
I'm assuming your running the recommended premium fuel. I would suggest a couple of things.
Do you pump your own gas or has someone else filled the tank recently?
Try a tank of premium from a different stations. You may be running into the problems that occur due to winter fuel blends vs warm weather fuel blends or a bad batch of gas.
If that does not solve the problem I would suspect it is a secondary effect of the bad EGT sensor. Get that fixed.
Your detonation implies the fuel octane is not right for your tune level. Something has changed to lean out your fuel mixture or cause some other change to do that.
The running like crap could be either due to an improper mixture or the ECU pulling timing due to the knock you see at torque peak rpms.
Double check your hoses and be sure they are all tight, no leaks, or loose hoses.
Might want to verify your fuel filter is not clogged and giving you low fuel pressure.
Thats all that comes to mind at the moment.
