Threw a CEL... car acting weird
I was driving out to reno this weekend, car ran completly fine on the way out there... i had just had the oil changed.
when i arrived in reno i pulled over to check directions and shut the car off. when i turned it back on the CEL came on and my fuel guage dropped to empty. so treating the car like a windows based computer i shut it off and waited a few seconds then turned it back on. the CEL remained but my fuel gauge went back up to where it was. i parked the car did my thing for the night then drove it back to my girlfriends house (3 hours away) CEL was on the whole time. then when i arrived back at her house i shut the car off to change my clothes before. i had to move the car so i turned it back on and the CEL was gone...
i know that was long winded but anybody have any clue what the CEL was all about?
thanks
~jacob
Edit: oh i have 2002 wrx with 46,000 miles on it,there are no engine mods car is completly stock except for a few suspension goodies...

In CA Autozone stopped doing free scans, they still do it in other states.
Even if the light has gone out the code is still stored in memory as long as you don't disconnect the battery or do a reset or clear code command with a scanner, so you should still have it scanned.
