anyone going catless verify this? ive never seen/heard/smelled a catless car. my friend also said that basically if i back the car up to a white wall, itll leave black stuff all over the wall in no time. if a cop stopped me, would he know i was catless by smell? and if it does smell, it wont permeate into the passenger compartment will it?

i just made a test pipe for my friends nissan sentra, it does smell real bad, and at a stop it does leak into the car. but the rear piece of the exhaust is also leaking right now(he forgot to buy that gasket), so the smell in the car might go away when he buys the gasket for it. they dont do smog checks here in NH though, so dont have to worry about that part

Get a high flow cat. They aren't too expensive and they keep you a little safer. FYI, it is illegal (federal law) to replace a cat the is less than 7 years old with anything other than factory replacments parts. After 7 years only when it is broken are you supposed to replace it. If you do go that route keep your old one(s) around to put back on if you need to.

well i heard alot of this too, but my bro just went catless from the turbo back in his WRX and the smell really isnt any more noticable than standing behind my stock WRX.
and no flames either!

I own a Vishnu turboback w/highflow cat. Vishnu recommends at least one cat due to possible boost spiking/wavering from running catless. Personally, I don't believe the benefits of running totally catless with the stock turbo are all that great. I'd rather keep at least one highflow.

yea normally when you remove your cats you will get some boost spiking due to less back pressure but its pretty rare on a somewhat stock car. About the flames though has it been proven if you're completly catless you will shoot flames?

yeah, i know there are three. he is catless from the turbo back like i said in my first post. so he still has the up-pipe cat.
it just seems to me that if you have a muffler, it should supress the flames.
is there anyone that has actually SEEN (not heard from friends) a catless WRX shoot flames?
