...with stock axle back muffler?
I'm now debating if I should get a complete Turbo back, or a downpipe with stock muffler. I know that TurboXS makes a stealth setup, which is pretty close to what I'm thinking of doing. Have any of you experienced any problem with this kind of setup? I'm a little worry that there will be too much pressure in the exhaust that the stock axle back muffler may not be able to handle, and end up blowing exhaust gaskets. My goal is to keep the exhaust note as quite as possible. Any input would be great, thanks!
Mods currently on my car are:
- HKS Racing Suction Kit
- Samco intake and intercooler holes
- Fujitsubo headers
- APS uppipe
- STi group-N engine and tranny mount

Same thing...
I am seriously considering the TurboXS Stealth too. Doing a bunch of reading tonight but unless I seem something bad I will probably order tomorrow. I'm still debating as an enthusiast whether I want to try and tackle the uppipe install on my own or not. I'm running the UTEC computer and otherwise pretty much stock.

I have a Perrin catted DP and uppipe with stock catback and have had no problems. I have heard of people with fumes in the car from exhaust leaks and other problems but I haven't experienced any. I'm pretty happy with it. Now the TXS might flow better without the cats and have more pressure build up?????????

I, have the TXS stealth back bolted to the stock muffler. Install was easy, good fit, biggest problem was getting the O2 sensor plug disconnected. I only have one bolt connecting the the system to the muffler, gives it a bit more sound. Other than emissions is there any negative side effect from doing this?

Just put on the turboxs stealthback yesterday and drove home with just a straight pipe for the muffler as it was all I had at the time. So unbelievebly loud, the shop said they wouldn't even take it out on the road for a test drive. Drove home real careful although it was kindof fun going thru tunnels. Put on the stock muffler today and everything is a lot better and I could definetly still feel nice performance gains. I have a blitz coming in next week so I'll see then if that makes any more performance than the stock muffler, but so far it works great.

a cel isnt a big deal... if it bothers you ro see the light lit up, you can get a resistor from radio shack and splice it in.
there is no problems with running the stock axelback, you are missing out on noticable hp and response however.
the sound of a stock muffler on a turbo-back is quiet, but it has a nice quiet burble as well when you gas it.
i say just do it! my car does get loud at times with a full exhaust, but the only ones that complain are usually women.

With the turboxs catless and stock muffler, the sound is pretty quiet. Not much louder than stock I'd say if at all. You can tell that its not stock though as the the exhaust note is a bit deeper and sounds meaner when you get on the gas. I'll let you know if I notice much performance difference next week when I get the blitz axle back on there versus the stocker.
And no cel's yet after a bit over 100 miles. Although I'm not too concerned if I get one which I imagine I will as I'm looking into the accessECU reflash and I think they can disable the cel with that.
