Well,

I have the early APS Type R FMIC, and everytime I see a post about lag and pressure drop, I laugh. Instead of begging my car to accelerate from 3500 to redline, it does. And where is the lag everybody talks about? The last open track day here in Hawaii, I was pulling on STIs. One commented about my "low end". The only time one caught up was when I got stuck behind slower traffic. As soon as we went around, I pulled. I am stock block, APS flywheel, GP Moto header, full turbo-back, intake, and an AVC-R set at 15psi. I opted for the FMIC early, as I didn't want to suffer the heat-soak issues, especially with a larger turbo. Will soon be running a Deadbolt ported and polished VF34, Cobb engine management, injectors, fuel pump, blah, blah, blah. The recent Sport Compact article spotlights the small advantage a bigger TMIC with tuning gives. The proximity to the turbo sucks. The Cobb Conebasher (2.5l, SR50) runs the same intercooler I have. I've talked to Cobb and know I don't need to worry unless I add more displacement than that. My $0.02, mileage varies.

San I really don't want to offend you. Your car rocks, I can only dream about having as many mods as you do. And you're right Pat Olsen usually takes first in SM in a N/A Legacy

No offense taken.

I've only been to auto-x once. Fun, but I like the open track better. I'd like to drag, but I've seen too many tranny problems around here. If I had a 6-speed, or the 5-speed RA gears, I'd probably show up for a few runs.
