SRT-4 "T" mod aka bleeding wastegate on WRX???

The other day i was washing my car and my lil bro suggested i should try the the "T" mod (which is just a vacuum T fitting connected to your wastegate so it bleeds off an extra 3-4 lbs of boost) since he occassionaly runs the mod on his SRT-4 after a while of him suggesting it...i decide to try and it....my car (my04) has full TBE, uppipe, BOV and removed intake silencer....once i cranked up the car....there was no CEL which i was pretty suprised wit....let the car warm up...then off we drove....first gear...it did about 18 pounds....then in second gear all the way to redline the car boosted about 20 pounds...and got dayam did it feel fawkin crazy.....i was juss wondering if its a safe thing to do on regularly basis??? i figure its not....so i took it off as soon as the test drive was done....so i was juss wondering if anyone has tried this...and what do you guys think?
