Squealing when A/C's on?

recently i noticed when my a/c is on i hear this squealing thats very high pitched and only is on when the fan is on also. When i'm driving the sound is audible every few mins and would fade out. I'm not familiar with the a/c system but everything else seems fine. The a/c blows cold.

I've thought about bringing it to the dealer but the only problem is i currently have a broken strut mount bolt. Would they give me problems for that or write it down for future reference?

check your belts mate and see if the one on the compresser is loose. Its possible the squeal is just the belt slipping when the a/c clutch kicks in.

Take off the belt cover, tighten the tensioner on the far right. That should be the key. Check back with us

I had a problem like this with my civic awhile back, It squeeked alittle bit in the beginning and then it just went really bad and made all sorts of noises (ugly ones). It turned out to be that the bearings were shot in the fan motor or whatever.

make sure you fix the problems soon, you don't want the problem you have now ruin your compressor, that would be a pricy repair.

I got the squeek too. It only happens for a second but every once in a while there is a little chirp. I can even feel it in the gas pedal. I think I should check my belts today.
