Serpentine belt tension?

I dont know exact specs, but when I did mine, I just tensioned them enough so they would be tight, but still had about about 1/4" total "slack" (1/8" up / 1/8" down) when I grabbed them between the pulleys and lifted or pushed down on them. Havent had any problems with them since. Hope that makes sense.

You simply tighten it. It's self-adjusting! There is a torque spec for the bolt which holds the tensioner to the block but it's not in front of me. PM/email me and I'll get you a link to it.

recently with the cold and wet weather. my belts squeal like mad angry pigs. I sprayed some stuff on them and it was ok for like a day. now its just unbearable at startup. once the car is warm it goes away but with the stearing at full lock its just awfull. how can I fix this?
