scoobysport exhausts built by a high school shop class?

my new scoobysport downpipe came in yesterday, and it looks like the damn thing was built in a high school shop class. i know they're hand made, but this is kinda silly. i had really hoped it would be put together in a nicer fashion, so it damn well better make good power. i think i'm going to try and clean up some of the rough edges on the inside of the bellmouth, so we'll see how that goes.

I think I could've done a better job with my Dremel. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to send it back.

Hey man when I got my scooby sport exhaust was not as bad as yours, but it was on the messy side. I still have and it works just fine and sounds really good!
good luck

the crazy part is that these things are built by Hayward and Scott, a company that has built exhausts for rally cars for ages. i bought it primarily because it's the only bellmouth design that keeps the stock 3rd cat. sitting this thing next to my Helix up-pipe on the workbench is pretty depressing, since the helix is almost a work of art in comparison. if i had a tig welder and some welding experience, i'd send it back, order a Helix DP, cut out the center section, and weld it back up so that it fit the stock 3rd cat pipe. as it is, i'm going to do my best to clean this thing up. i'm glad i didn't order the whole damn turbo back.

Eeew that's pretty disappointing... Sorry to see you get something like that in exchange for your hard-earned cash. Those photos do benefit the rest of us shopping around though, so thanks!

the kicker here is that it was about $380 shipped from Rally Performnace. when you look at the Helix or Perrin pipes, they're about the same price and look a hell of a lot better.

Ya man I'll take that thing off your hands......to me there is nothing better out there than scooby sport products, I run the catless center and cat back right now and love it....I'm not in it for the looks im in it for the performance and scooby sport definately delivers.

i think i'm going to go ahead and install it after i get it cleaned up. however, if it doesn't deliver in the power department, it'll probably be for sale pretty quickly. honestly, i didn't buy it for looks, i bought it for performance. it just bums me out that it looks like it was built after a long lunch at the pub, with too many pints of Guinness.

Just a guess... yes Scooby Sport is pretty renowned, so perhaps to keep prices down the get stingy on the spit'n'polish time input, just concentrating on the research and solid construction. *shrug*

But I know what you mean. Feeling good is certainly better in the long run than looking good... but looking good feels good
