Re: Smoke after uppipe/dp install

I have noticed a lot of smoke coming out my tailpipe when idling. I just installed an uppipe and a downpipe and am new to all of this. Please tell me if this is normal or not. I have also included some pics of what it looks like:

If it only does this for a few minutes, or for the first few times you start the car after the install, you may be burning off any oils that may have been in/on the new piping, as well as any wd-40 or anything like that you may have used to loosen the bolts before removing the original system. If it keeps smoking for a while, you will need someone with more knowledge than I have to reply to this thread! I hope it goes away for you.

You're fine: since you're running catless now, there's gonna be more smoke coming out the tailpipe. Also, you should've also noticed that it stinks like a hot turd in the sun too.
If you ever get pulled over, pray that the cop isn't sharp enough to notice the smoke or smell

yup it will happen since youre catless now. most of it should dissappear after the car is warmed up.

will i have either the smoke or the smell if i get Vishnu UP, the COBB DP with cat, mated to the vishnu cat back exhaust?

i would guess since i'd lose two of the cats but prolly not as bad as totally catless?

Did you reset your ecu after the install?

It is normal, but if it is still smoking significantly when up to temp. you might want to do a reset. That might help.

I have been running catless for a couple weeks now, and haven't seen any extra smoking since the first day.

my **** didnt smoke one bit when i did uppipe/downpipe.. but then when i put it back to stock for warranty work (teeheehee) it was smokin and i got scared.. then it stopped and i figured out it was just the wd-40 i used to break the bolts loose.

No I havn't, but maybe I will give that try. Is there anyway it could be oil leaking? There are no signs of a leak but i don't know what else would cause it to smoke so much when i idle.

A lot of smoke happened to me when I first installed my catback, but not when I later installed my downpipe. Maybe it's just a catless thing... don't know.

I have a catless UP/DP, I get some smoke when it is cold and the 3rd cat hasn't warmed up.
