Question about k&n panel filter with silencer mod
HI
I just recently did a modified version of the silencer removal where I cut the silencer just below the elbow portion leading from the engine into the fender and back out to the stock filter box. I left the "ram air" portion under the hood there so i take on air from the grill and from inside the fender wall. The opening is quite large from where i hack sawed the silencer. I then purchased a drop in panel filter from k&n.
My question is do I need to remove the negative to the battery for the car to respond to this change? I ran into a wrb wrx from my hometown. We started chatting for a while and he told me that he read to remove the negative cable and then let the car relearn. I have read this before for bigger mods like exhaust changes, and other large mods. Do i need to do this for the filter also? And if so what is the quickest way for the car to relearn? I read on one post that holding ur foot on the break will help and then run the car on the highway??
Thanks for your help
