put in downpipe, now problems help!!!! please!!!!

i just put in an invidia downpipe (02' wrx) and i have a straight midpipe and a blitz axleback. when i put it in when i go over bumps, and accelerate at different points there is a violet rattle\vibration coming from under the back of the driver's seat. is this normal due to the power increase? is the exhaust moving? it sounds like its rattling and hitting something, havnt had a chance to diagnose but does anyone know what the problem could be or i am freaking out about nothing? any help at all would be very appreciated thank you. PLEASE HELP!!!

It is most likely hitting a heat shield. just jack up your car and shake the piping as hard as you can to see if it hitting anything.

^^Yeah what he said.^^ You most likely just need to reposition a pipe and/or tighten something up. Hopefully it's not rattling on your tranny cross member like my downpipe did.

what if it is rattling on the tranny corss member? will any damage occur??, if so can a simple heat wrap fix the problem of the rattling?

you could use a piece of silicon tubing or get a universal rubber strap exhaust hanger.

No serious damage should occur with the rattling, it's just annoying. I've got a different brand dp...I've never heard of this happening with the Invidia. A heat wrap could do the trick if you wrap it good...that's actually what I'm trying next because my modified hanger isn't working as it should. Or try the silicon, although I don't know how that would work.

check to see if its rattling on your driveshaft, i have an hks downpipe on my 02 and it rubs on the driveshaft when im decelerating, or having a ruff start, no damage to either parts, just some scratches, but its effin annoying...

When i first put in my Invidia TBE I noticed some rattling so I bought hardned polyurethane bushings and that did the trick for me. I drive hard on backroads from time to time and I experienced no problems to date. They are a pita to install though. I think 4 bushings with a friend took me 30 minutes to change.

id be willing to bet that its the same thing that my 2 buddies had/have. the one that had it fixed it with 1 longer exhaust hanger in that location which replaces the stock one. my other buddy has yet to do it, but it rattles in the exact same spot. good luck.

check to see if there's any hangers that sit real close to other parts of the car i.e. axles, heatshields, sway bar.

i had a similar problem. it was the exhaust itself hitting the floor board right behind the straight pipe hanger. i tried to move it away and it hit the rear diff. i was given a different exhaust cause no one knew what was wrong or how to fix it. stranger things have happened. i even had an endlink that would turn towards the inside of the car. weird........
