you should start with a compression test. vf 34/39 are great and cheap upgrades for 2.0 motors.
if you have a full tbe shouldnt you be at cobb stage 2?
internal upgrades?.... 2.5 block would be nice ha

Thats a tough call man. I have an 02 with just 80K on the odo. I just did some major upgrades, similar to the ones you are talking about, and the car is incredibly knock happy now. I baby the car, but there is a problem internally that I cannot diagnose. I did a compression and leak down test and everything looked perfect, so its likely that there is a leak of some sort somewhere. Anyways, what are you looking to spend on your upgrade. I ask because I would have probably been better off just doing a trade in and upgrading to an STI. Just a thought, also remember that these bugeyes need to be smogged now. Anyways, good luck with you upgrades, but make sure all is well under the hood before you spend a bunch on increasing performance. Just my 2 cents.

i just did the vf34 upgrade on my 04 wrx. i've got close to 70k miles on the engine. it's a fun mod, even just on the cobb off the shelf stg 2.5 map. need to get a proper tune sometime in the near future though. I'm glad gas is cheaper, cuz my foot has somehow turned into lead.
