Possible Overboost Problem?
First post here but I've browsed for awhile.
I've had an 02 WRX for about 5 months now with no issues and over the last weekend installed a new M2 Turbo back exhaust setup.
Under higher acceleration in 3rd gear and 4th though I've gotten a quite abrupt drop in power and then it kicks in again hard. Throws a CEL for a little while before going away. Only other mod is an AEM cai.
I'm going see about getting the ecu codes pulled at a dealer if it is boosting a little to high due you think I would be able to tune that down a bit with a manual boost controller?

Autozone and Pep Boys will pull your codes for free (and then try to sell you somthing). This way you won't have to deal with your dealer possibly giving you grief over your mods.

try the stock air box.
when my car was bouncing off of the boost limit 17psi it would not throw a cel.
but I had a bigger turbo and some other things, I would not think that a cat back would change the boost response that much to cause the car to hit boost cut.
