Perrin down pipe installation help ?
I was looking at the directions for installing the down pipe and it says you have to take off the bov and the intercooler? Is this really necessary if I have access to a lift? The other thing that’s confusing me is the resistor. Is the resistor that little piece of wire with the little circular thing in the middle? Did anyone have problems installing this? Please let me know what to look for that can go wrong.

Removing the intercooler will give you better access to the turbo to downpipe bolts. If you don't already have silicone intercooler hoses, now is a good time to get some.
That thing you described is indeed the resistor. I never installed mine and I've been cel free for about 5k miles.

You're going to need a MIL eliminator. Teagues carries them http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/ . They call it a PEP or some such.
Installation of a downpipe ie easy.
1. Remove intercooler
2. Remove turbo heat shield
3. Spray doenpipe bolts with WD 40 and remove
4. Jack car and put it on stands
5. Remove bolts to cat pipe one of which is a stud (you'll need to remove the exhaust support bolt farther back to pull the downpipe)
6. Remove downpipe
Use anti-seize on all the nuts when you reinstall. I bought a couple of heat shield bolts and nuts for the attacment of the downpipe to turbo connection from the dealer and they came in handy.
