Passing smog with a stock exhaust...

Hey all.

I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but i've searched and have only come up with vague answers or answers that don't fit what i need to know.

I just recently installed a HKS DP and Gruppe-S Uppipe, but still have the stock exhaust system.

The question (again)....Will I pass smog? I'm mainly curious about the sniffer part. Will the stock exhaust help me pass it? Or is it not worth the hassle, and i might as well try and put back on the stock DP.
Visual-wise, I still have the stock heatshield on, so it looks stock, but if they look closer, will notice NO cats.

But will i pass the sniffer with the HKS DP & stock exhaust?

Thanks for the help.

If your state has a visual inspection (CA/CO as well as some others), you will definately fail smog because the hks downpipe replaces the down and midpipe if i'm not mistaken, and thus the two cats that were clearly there are no longer the case. Uppipe is harder to see. Since you're running without all three cats like in your setup, then it is almost certain you won't pass sniffer either. I'd swap back to stock down and mids before smog if I were you at least. Hope that helps.

This is correct. The WRX will not pass the sniffer test without any catalytic converters in the exhaust. If it could pass without them, Subaru woulda left 'em off in the first place. Electric cars don't have 'em.
