Best all around turbo would prbably be a 20G for the 2.5L, it can make good hp without much loss in spool, and on race gas has the capability to run ~400whp and high 11's, plenty fast for most people. If you want deep into the 11's though on race gas, and high 11's on pump i would say 30R. If you're going for 10's, 35R. It all depends on what you want, for me i chose the 30R, but for most people the 20G is the perfect turbo.

I agree with stimo. If I had a 2.5L I would go 20g or FP green, of course you would need full exhuast, IC, injectors, fuel pump and engine management.

For a 2.0L I think a vf22 would be a good turbo.

It just depends what you are looking for. I would want something that kicks real hard at 4K rpms, to some people that is "laggy".

^30R would be perfect for you then on a 2.5L, on pump i get full boost at 4K, so race gas you could probably shave off 100rpm or so. I actually don't consider this turbo laggy, it's more laggy than stage 2, maybe a bit more than a stock sti, but not much, and it has the capability to make ALOT more hp, very close to the perfect turbo IMO.

For 2.0L, I would go for 16G, Big 16G or Super16G

+1 on the 2.5L, 20G turbo

That is an incredible turbo, if you can afford it. Make certain you are going with at least 550cc or greater injectors and a FMIC, anything less will be wasting your investment. I've driven an 03 WRX with the SR40 and it was a streetable 380whp on 91 octane. No, that wasn't a typo!
