Best all around turbo would prbably be a 20G for the 2.5L, it can make good hp without much loss in spool, and on race gas has the capability to run ~400whp and high 11's, plenty fast for most people. If you want deep into the 11's though on race gas, and high 11's on pump i would say 30R. If you're going for 10's, 35R. It all depends on what you want, for me i chose the 30R, but for most people the 20G is the perfect turbo.

I agree with stimo. If I had a 2.5L I would go 20g or FP green, of course you would need full exhuast, IC, injectors, fuel pump and engine management.

For a 2.0L I think a vf22 would be a good turbo.

It just depends what you are looking for. I would want something that kicks real hard at 4K rpms, to some people that is "laggy".

^30R would be perfect for you then on a 2.5L, on pump i get full boost at 4K, so race gas you could probably shave off 100rpm or so. I actually don't consider this turbo laggy, it's more laggy than stage 2, maybe a bit more than a stock sti, but not much, and it has the capability to make ALOT more hp, very close to the perfect turbo IMO.

That is an incredible turbo, if you can afford it. Make certain you are going with at least 550cc or greater injectors and a FMIC, anything less will be wasting your investment. I've driven an 03 WRX with the SR40 and it was a streetable 380whp on 91 octane. No, that wasn't a typo!
