Oil: 5W-30 versus 5W-50.....boo boo??
OK, so I have a 2002 WRX with the 2.0 liter turbo, 90Kmiles. I usually do my oil changes with Castrol Syntec full synthetic 5W-30...but, I was in a hurry at the auto parts store this weekend, and grabbed the 5W-50 by mistake. I did not realize that I did this until I was halfway through adding the oil back into the engine after changing the old oil out.
From what I understand from other reading, the 50 weight just has a higher viscosity at running temperature., but the same viscosity at start up, as the 30, being that they are both 5W's. Summer or winter, my car gets a solid five minutes warm up time before driving anywhere.
Now, should I be worried about anything, especially with the turbo???
Thanks in advance for advice/replies.

There is a chart in the manual that shows what to use in what temps...does it meet the requirements, I dont remember? I havent read any posts on subie owners using that weight. Good luck

The heavier weight will work fine... your engine may not be as efficient moving the heavier oil around but you'll be fine. You might notice less power and sluggish acceleration but that's about it.
