Newbie, DIY cold weather fuel leak repair
Hello everyone, great board!
I have a completely stock 53k mile '02 WRX with the now infamous cold weather fuel leak issue. I've read a bunch of posts on this board and the TSB. I checked with several dealers in the area, and they all want around $600 for the repair. With the holidays coming up I could think of about 1000 better ways to spend that money.
I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but spent most of my spare time in the last 20 years wrenching on american iron. Yes I do own metric tools How hard is it, really, to remove the intake manifold and replace these fuel lines with the Subaru replacement parts?
Specifically, are there any special tools required? Any other real pitfalls, such ase depressurizing the fuel system, other than just turning bolts and making sure everything gets hooked up in the same place it came off of?
I don't really care if it takes me a month of sundays to do the job right, I've got other transportation. I'd buy a reasonably priced service manual if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks much!
Jim

Thanks very much, got the job done. Overall not a bad job, service manual not required.
Took me about 3 hours to disassemble, and 2 hours to assemble. Started right up no leaks.
Thanks!
