Need help with upgrade plans

Ok, I want to mod my car and still want it to pass emissions. I'm new to tuning so I don't know if my ideas will pan out. This is where I need help. Right now, the only mod i have is the SPT catback.

I want to get a downpipe w/ hi flow cat and the cobb accessport, making it a pseudo Stage 2. Will this work and how much gains can i expect? OR should I just get rid of the SPT and go w/ their turboback/accessport package?

Secondly, I hear of people passing emissions going catless. How is this possible? Won't they fail visual inspections right away with no cats? I live in california...maybe emissions here are more stringent?

Thanks for the help!

If you want to pass smog, the only cat you can remove is the precat before the turbo.

HERE'S AN IDEA FOR YOU ALL, first you can do anything to your car that you want, just remember to keep your stock exhaust. before 4 yrs hit, go to a muffler shop with the oem exhaust, and tell them to add another cat to the exhaust. Now take off your stock exhaust when smog time comes around, and just stick the double catted oem exhaust on your car, im sure you'd have no problems with emissions. tell me if you think this wont work ><

umm....im kinda confused on what you're trying to say there buddy. The stock exhaust already has two cats after the turbo.

I run my car catless, but also keeping all stock parts neatly put away in my garage. This way I can slap everything back on in matter of hours.
