Need help, engine sputters on '02 WRX
#16
Wtf
hello, i thought by now she'd be running strong. a lean reading would be too much air and rich too much fuel hmm... what did the spark plugs look like? just this week i have noticed some engine stuble at idle and a noise from the throtle body intercooler area. i have a TMIC from a STI from what i've been told/read they never fit on perfect. i will keep eye on it but don't drive the wagon that much. iam sure someone on this forum will be able to help you find/fix the problem.

OK guys, I had Autozone scan the codes. It came up as pre cat O2 sensor in cylinder bank 1.

check for vaccume leaks or intake manifold gasket leaks around bank 1. mixtres on both sides should be off if the gaskets are leaking. i have see this in a few other types of cars. havent gotten my hands on a high milage problematic subie yet.
i see your name is avus blue. did you have a bmw before?

well thats because you didnt diagnose the car like i posted above. dont just throw parts at it. alot of ppl will tell you "well i had they same problem one time and it was this" but that was their car and not yours. Take the time and diagnose your car. there now are several methods of doing it posted here on the forum.

Well guys, I may have gotten rid of the sputtering. I drove the car last night, and it seemed like its almost not sputtering, and then today its still not sputtering.
Well not the same anyway. Sometimes, and I mean only sometimes she might give a hint of hesitation, but its worlds better than before.
Thanks to all of your suggestions. If the problem returns, I'll be back.
