mufflers that don't sound bad for the WRX
I would like to have a better performing muffler, and coming from pro street, any high perf muffler I put on the V8's sounded great. I got into the japanese car thing for a while, and want to have something sound nice on the wrx, BUT NOT LIKE A BUMBLE BEE!!!! Any ideas?
Thanks

The Boxer engine wont sound like a bumble even with a Lawnmower muffler!,
Not to worry, Just about any quality aftermarket will do.
I myself bought a ScoobySport, Lots of guys like the Turbo X
Poke around on here,Youll find one that fits your taste

Shotgun is right, the boxer has a mellow, intoxicating growl that can be set free by almost any good name sytem. I bought the n1 catback from apexi. I read some pretty negative things about it at subarureviewcom but the price was right and the straight through design was what I wanted. It sounded great, not ricy at all and when I installed my up-pipe, it produced an addictive and distinctive growl at boost that makes honda owners **** themselves. I don't have a sound cut of my system but it's easy to find them online I just don't remeber where. Sorry. Hope this helps

All these boys have been right on thus far. You should certainly check out scooby sport (specifically hayward and scott), as that's a nice combination of sound and performance.
I would also check out the Prodrive muffler - not too much in the way of gains, but has one of the nicest sound, looks, and quality (read: fitment) going.

sound recording
how about sound bites. does any one have an mp3 recorder, or digital dictation machine. Scoopy sport has a sound bite on their web site, but no one else does. I want to hear it first.

cheapest on the market is a 2.5 buschur turboback... $625 shipped, thats less expensive than many cat-backs.... and even some turbobacks...
and the turboback is only two pounds heavier than the markets lightest CAT-back

exhaust
M2 makes a great sounding exhaust. CHECK out their site at www.m2performance.com. It sounds pretty close to the vishnu. Its also a beauty to look at.
my .02 cents worth!

The Stromung dual tip is a nice sounding piece and is loud nor is it a highway patrol eye catcher. Not looking like a racer was a motive for me purchasing the Stromung.
The Vishnu system is the nicest looking one IMO the welds and finish are showcase quality and are flawless.
