Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Never heard of anyones thoughts on that specific turbo back system myself but....

If you don't use engine management the gains pretty much will be like another 10-15 hp and decreased spool up time.

With engine management the world changes as the 0-60 time decreases slightly but the real noticable difference is in the higher gears where it will still pull much harder.

With a stage 2 system which basically is just a turbo back your wrx should be hitting mid 13's on the 1/4. The gas milage will decrease (word of mouth) but if you lay off the gas and stop showing off like my friends i'm sure you wont really see much of a difference.

do you think that eventually if you had a turboback, the stock computer will adapt to it?

i hear we do have a learning ecu.

It learns alright but not to gain performance really. It learns to protect the motor not to dump more fuel into the mix becuase suddenly there is a bigger turbo and on such a note not increase boost becuase its programmed not to

Car Info: want a WRX
the ecu advances and retards timing based on hwo good the fuel is. knock = take away timing up to -12 (i think), no knock for long enough will alllow it to be + 16? or something like that, basically AFAIK the ECU adjusts for knock, the longer w/out knock the better the timing. resetting hte ecu brings the ignition advance multiplier to 8. theres a few threads on it if you want more (easier to understand) info...if that made no sense, sry im tired as hell...

the TBE will probably give 10-15 chp. .2-.4 seconds less to 60 im guessing.

the company is great but its expensive.

the cost of any MRT part is really the major knock against them. They generally make (or rebadge) good quality components, but lord-a-mighty are they expensive.
