I have the same issue, only happens at higher speeds in excess of 50 mph, or maybe I don't notice it at slower speeds.

UPDATE!
Ok, since it was the weekend, took the time to fix the issue (or at least "try to fix" the issue). Took out the intercooler (not as scary as I had imagined)...and found the issue.
Top of the "Y" pipe, where it connects to the intercooler, the gasket had blown out....its this foamy type gasket that Im sure with time deteriorates. Used some liquid gasket maker to temporarily fix the issue. This morning when I drove to work, the problem had been solved! No more screeeeeaming coming from my car! YAY!

My car started to whine from idle through the RPM range last week. Pin-pointed the problem to the idler pulley. Sprayed a liberal amount of WD40 on it and it went away temporarily. Picked on up a new idler pulley from Stevens Creek Subaru for $46. Also replaced the belt. Pulley no longer makes sound. Old bearing on idler pulley was shot.

Note: Before you pull off the belt, loosen the bolt on the idler pulley itself. Then loosen the vertical bolt by turning it the opposite way (Opposite threaded.) If you don't do it in this sequence, you will break the plastic adjuster connected to the idler pulley like I did. DOPE!!!. I had to improvise to tighten it by press down on the idler pulley with a large screwdriver while tightening it. All is good now.
