I need some help!!

I just installed the Cobb Up and Down pipe on my 2005 WRX. When i first start up the car after its been sitting for about a half hour and push the car a little there is a loud chirping sound. It sounds like a leak to me but i tightened the hell out of all of the bolts that i loosend and it still makes that noise. After about a few minutes of driving the sound goes away. I just want to be able to drive my car without it making that noise at start up. Thanks for the help.

Kris

Did you use new Uppipe and Downpipe gaskets in your install? If not, you could be leaking, but when the car warms up the gaskets expand and seal up that slight leak.

Also, what does "tighten the hell" mean? Did you use a torque wrench? Uppipe and downpipe bolts are all around 25-30 ft-lbs which isn't all that much. Too tight is just as bad as too loose.

Another possible source of a leak could be your EGT port. Does the Cobb have one and did you tighten the probe in all of the way?

Yeah i did use new gaskets. I did use a torque wrench and set it to about 35 lbs just to be on the safe side. I'm gonna try taking off the up pipe again and re installing it just to see if that works. I've taken off the down pipe like twice just to see if that was it but it wasn't. I thought it was my EGT port as well but i put a little bit of teflon tape around it just to be sure and it still made the noise. Thanks for the input.

Even at 35 ft-lbs, you should be fine.

The only other suggestions I could make would be to check the O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold piping below the uppipe and check all of your intake piping.

Good luck. Be sure to let us know how it turns out.

Yup i did all of that the other day. I've tightened everything else down at least twice except between the bottom of the turbo and the top of the up pipe. Once again thanks for your input! I'll be sure to post how it turns out.

I had a chirping noise on coldstartup, could hear it when I reved the car a little and let of the gas...

It was the exhaust hangers, I threw some teflon lube on em and the sound went away.
