Question Just installed a VF22 and can't lower boost

I just installed a VF22 tonight. Everything went smoothly, but now my boost keeps peaking @ 16psi, regardless of my Profec B being on or not. I tried messing with the low and high boost settings to no avail. I then turned it off and noticed the same behavior.

Does this mean the actuator is set to 16psi and I can't do anything about it? I also have the Vishnu Unichip set up for the stock turbo @ 15psi w/ EBC, downpipe, exhaust, and intake. I have yet to get it re-programmed for the VF22, but would this cause these problems? Would removing the unichip temporarily help?

I'm looking to run 12psi until I can get my injectors and fuel pump installed. Any advice on what to do until then?

Thanks in advance.

Just wondering if you have any ECU mods. Sometimes this will keep you from adjusting your boost. BTW, how has your WRX responded to the turbo without injectors and a pump???

I only have the unichip right now.

It's responding well, other than the fact the boost controller is not working properly.

That's why you can't lower your boost. Sounds like you have a unichip stage 2. The chip automatically sets your boost to ~16psi even if your boost controller is set all the way down. However, I believe you can't raise it if you want to (I wouldn't suggest it without proper fuel mods.)

I'm not raising the boost because I don't have all the fuel components in place so I want 2 be safe. When I get all the fuel, I will go have my unichip re'progged for 18psi. I'm gonna try and disconnect my unichip to see if that helps.

Ok, take a piece of hose and connect the wategate nipple to the nipple on the oulet of the turbo. See how much boost you're getting. That is what the wastegate springi is set for. If it's still higher then what you want, then you have to make the arm to the wastegate longer.

Ok, did that and it's boosting to 14psi. The profec seems to be working as far as setting the boost higher, but will not allow me to set the boost lower. I removed the unichip and reset the ecu to no avail. I don't understand. All I did was swap out the turbo. Nothing else has changed. Weird.

Ok, what this means is that your wastegate is either not being open all the way or the spring is too stiff. What you need to do is make the wategate arm longer, in effect making the sping weaker. In case you didn't notice, our wastegates are adjustible.

Piece of cake.
