JDM V7 EJ207DW3CR Questions
Ok so I'm very close to purchasing a JDM V7 EJ207DW3CR engine. It comes with a VF30. I previously own a VF30 on my 02 WRX engine and the exhaust housing is known to crack.
In the event that the exhaust housing is or will crack soon will I be able to swap the turbo to a VF34 without any EM?
The ECU will be a JDM ECU.
If I do require engine management what can I use on this ECU?
Thanks,
Jon

I have only heard of the VF39's cracking, not the VF30's...I ran a VF30 for a while as well.
You should be able to swap w/ a VF34 w/o ill effects.
You are limited to ECUFlash/Enginuity OR ECUTek. They also make a JDM UTEC but they are hard to source.

the VF39's use the same exhaust housing as the VF30. I got this information from deadbolts awhile ago. VF30's do crack as well.
Looks like I'll have to change my EM now.

since this is technically an upgrade to my stock setup do I need to change the stock WRX fuel pump to an upgraded one that I was running when I had a VF30 stage 4 setup on my WRX engine?

yeah it's pretty obvious since the V7 comes with all the things that were present with my stage 4 setup so i should definitely run the upgraded pump.

I didn't realize you were running a Ver 7. That would probably be my choice. The Ver 8 spins up more quickly (from what I've read) but isn't as durable. l have always been of the mind that a high-revving 2.0 is a better track car than a 2.5 (less shifting, longer in the pwerband). Now if we're talking a 2.4 Axis motor that revs to 9000+, that's a different story. Where are you shifting at? I hit rev-limiter just because the motor revs quickly. It's strong up top. Only 292.38/297.24 on pump, and 324.26/338.32 on 50/50 pump and C17. Car weighs a bit over 3000 lbs with me in in it (harnesses and helmet included). If I buy a second ride I'll probably start stripping the WRX and making it a street legal track car. I'd guess around 2500 lbs or less.
