Intercooler+NOS???

I am interested in buying a NOS intercooler spray system. I have a stock motor basically on my 03 wrx. Has anyone here done this setup? What kinda results did you get?? How much time or hp will i gain with this setup.

also would that be better than water spray kit? suggestions needed...

I say do your own research I've looked into this too. It's a great idea and yes it works awsome you will gain power and is better than a water spray kit. you can also fill the bottle with co2 if you don't want to spend the money on NOS. I saw a rx-7 turbo gain 42 hp with this set up i'd say thats worth the money. have fun, THOMAS

i am not really sure if it would really be worth the money on a stock motor, spend the money on some basic power mods instead. its up to you though. imo it would be more valuable on a more modified engine.

I'm guessing by the number of folks who've done it (I don't think too many, but enough for it to warrant some research), it is feasible. One thing I'd recommend, if you don't already have it is some sort of programmable engine management. It's a good idea to richen up your mixture and pull some significant timing.

To help your research, a guy named Pace on ClubWRX.net, and AZScoobie on Nasioc did it successfully.

nitrous works great for cooling as a spray. I will be running it shortly on my rex

It is a very nice addition to a car with a turbo upgrade. I really wouldn't do it if my car was bone stock, or even just stage one. This setup will really shine with a turbo upgrade and fmic. My friend's '00 VW Beetle 1.8T gained 38hp with the Ntercooler. Then again he is also running a Garrett GT30R

Nitrous IC spray

Yes Nitrous is slightly cooler than C02 but the C02 is much cheaper. In terms of cost benefit the C02 wins.

Pace and AZscoobie used Nitrous in the normal way injected into the intake, Not as a cooling spray on the intercooler.

A search on NASIOC for N-tercooler will give you serveral threads. Its good for about 20 odd hp depending on your level of modification.

Nitrous Oxide when it is released out of the bottle and decompresses it is 0 degrees kelvin which is somthing like -175 degrees celcious.

Carbon diOxide is only 0 degrees celcious.

Is it really going to do much on a stock motor though? Enough to justify the costs?

there are probally more things to consider doing before you add the ic spray kit. get the basics done first " ex.. intake, exahust, boost controller, etc.."

no, NO2 is not released at zero kelvin, 0 K would be absolute zero and that temperature has never been reached before, closest anyone has ever gotten is around 4K. at 0K all particles or atoms or whatever stop all movement

oh and 0 kelvin is equal to -273.15 deg celsius

and nitrous boils at -89.5 deg celsius, so thats what temperature it comes out of the bottle at which equates to -129.1 deg F or 183 K
