Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

That's not deductive reasoning, that's guessing. Ride500 is 100% correct. You dont "get rid" of CELs. A CEL comes on and many had a given life time. If the problem that caused the CEL doesn't happen again, it doesn't come on again. But the only way you shut off a CEL is to hook up an OBD-II tool and shut it off.

You have no idea what the CEL was. With any luck its still in memory and can be read.

It can, but its not guaranteed. I ran lean enough to knock at higher loads (almost 12:1 at 16+ psi), even audibly once over major engine roar, and never had a cell.

Removing the silencer will not cause problems. The device which effects fuel delivery in response to air coming into the engine (MAF sensor) is AFTER the silencer, on the engine side of the intake path. That is, it reads the state of air already past the silencer and the ECU can fuel the engine appropriately.

If you are really worried, get a wideband 02 sensor. My new motto, heh.

or, reset your ecu, which the poster had done after replacing the snorkus. that's when the CEL "went away."

Just don't drive through lakes. A wb02 sensor measures the amount of 02 in your exhaust gases. There are cheaper methods, I have the TurboXS Tuner, $400. Some are less than $300. You don't really need it unless you are playing with fuel delivery, but if you are THAT curious...

And back in the day 4 cylinder cars were a lot slower. With great power comes a whole lotta other crap.
