Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

I was reading about boost control and found this idea

I was reading about boost control and found this idea

I don't think I'd try this, but I thought I'd share what I read

This book I have on forced-induction motors......the chapter on boost control, there is a short write-up on a cheap (!) boost control.

In the hose that runs from compressor housing to stock solenoid (where some guys install the 3/16), using a hot pin-vise or needle, bore a .020-.040" hole thru the plastic coupler so it will vent a small amount of signal to stock solenoid to the atmosphere, thereby "delaying" signal to solenoid and delaying wastegate.

Sounds like holed-pistons to me, but has anybody else heard of this??

Or relocating the source for boost signal from compressor to intake manifold??

Like I said, I'm not advocating this......just wondering. I'm not trying it.

Most MBC's will come with a hole like what you describe.

you're essentiallly adding a bleed hole.

it will work. downside? non adjustable!

needle valves work just as well and can be tweaked.
