Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Let me say it again along with it would work better with a TMIC because a FMIC cools more so you would not need it as much. Plus where would it go with the pipes from the FMIC?

Yes turbo's heat the air up a lot more then NA cars, but on the other hand if you have 10 degree cooler air going into the turbo you will have 10 degree cooler air coming out of it. The turbo is not going to work harder to heat up the air to the same temp if you do or don't have a CAI. Yes they work better in NA cars but they still help in any car. Would I spend $300 on a CAI ... NO but if you get it free or used for cheep then it is not going to hurt.

I know some have other views but just turn to Physics.

I read it but does anyone know about Physics. I mean if you put colder air into a turbo it does not and WILL NOT heat it up more to get to a certain degree level. If 200 was a magic # maybe but it is not.

If you put X degree air into a turbo you will get Y degree air out of it then it goes through the IC and get Z degree air.

but

If you put X-10 degree air into a turbo you will get Y-10 degree air out of it then goes into the IC and end up with Z-10 degree air

There is no way ... NO WAY

If you put X-10 degree air into a turbo you will get Y. That means the turbo will work harder producing the same power just to heat the air up ...

That does not obey the laws of Physics. Like I said would I spend a lot of $ on it ... No but does it help with proper engine management ... YES

I am not saying it because it makes me feel good. I am just more into Facts. someone putting in there car driving it and saying it does not work 10x better so it sucks. is not fact.

Is my car stock ... NO ... did I spend $300 on a CAI ... NO but I did pick up a used one for cheep ... YES.

My point is a CAI will not hurt ... will they make a huge difference ... maybe not.

Easiest way to hear the turbo is to take out the plug from the firewall behind the brake pedal. You will hear it especially at freeway speeds (will sound like a dentist drill).

Pull out your air silencer and you will hear the spool up.
