hollow up pipe?

hollow up pipe?
I have seen references made to gutting the up-pipe, what is this all about....is this an alternative to buying an aftermarket pipe?
1. Is there a power increase?
2. Driveability problems or CEL problems?
3. Difficulty of actually doing the job?
4. Why not buy aftermarket pipe?

yes there is a power increase. no driveability problems unless you have a problem with your turbo spooling faster. cel maybe but that can be fixed for less than a dollar. hollowing out the stock up pipe fairly easy. removing and installing the up pipe stock or after market plan on 3 to 5 hours of work. I would recommened you buy an aftermarket up pipe that way if you need to return the car to stock then you have the up pipe readily available. hope this helps.

Second that motion for using an aftermarket uppipe. It's just safer since you don't have to worry about tiny bits of converter getting sucked through your turbine. Remember the interwebby legend about the kid who ported and polished his car by pouring sand in his intake?

that was hella funny, i third the notion of an aftermarket uppipe. alot of them can be had for cheap these days.
