The Hayden is not a very good oil cooler. The long tube with many 180 degree bends can cause a pressure drop. Do you really need an oil cooler? Your location doesn't get very hot weather compared to Sacramento CA or Phoenix AZ. Do you track (road course) your car? If not, you can probably omit an engine oil cooler.

The catch can does not plumb into the lubrication system of the car. It is fitted inline with the crankcase ventilation system. You'll probably find discussions of catch can installations if you search this forum.

Hayden 403 oil cooler

I mounted mine between the radiator and a/c chiller. You have to take off the bash plate, top bracket, plastic grill, and spread the two radiators, but it slides right in. I only used two of the slip lock plastic ties, because it is so stable in that position when you put it back together. Heat is your enemy, and anything you can do to keep oil cooler, within reason, is good. It adds about a quart to your 4eat capacity.
I am running Cobb stg.2, and the tranny shifts better than ever.

A better oil cooler (if you need it) is made by Setrab.

I used a dual-fan Setrab on my 2332cc 213hp VW air-cooled,(11.5:1 CR) kept my oil temp under 195F here in Bay Area.

What kind of oil temps are you running in your WRX? And what kind of oil?

Oil Cooler

I don't have an oil temp gauge, and I use Valvoline oil. There have been mixed comments about synthetic in the tranny. I do use Castrol Syntec 5-30 in the engine.

I was reading that unless you are constantly running high temps and pressures an oil cooler will actually do more harm than good because it will lower the temperatures that the enigine was designed to run at and will eventually effect the predisigned expansion rates of the metal parts in the engine.

Mostly though, it seems like a waste of money, I would spend the money on something else...like lift tickets.
