fuel smell

lately ive been smelling fuel, after i fill up, and under load..ive done the search that the "fuel pump assemble gasket" needs to be replaced after opening up the pump assembly...but my question is that would the gasket not sitting correctly throw a check light....and i do need the car to get to work, so by continuing to drive with the gasket not sitting correctly or worn out is it going to cause serious damage to my motor?

-vf34 setup from gruppe-s w/ accessport
-helix down, HKS up, invidia exhaust....

much info would be great

I would imagine that the gasket not being fully seated would be very similar to not having the gas cap tightened down which can cause a CEL. I would either replace it, but at minimum I would re-seat the gasket until I could get it replaced. I don't think you'll have any engine damage, the tank isn't pressurized, only the fuel line.

Always make sure your gas cap is tight after fueling up.
One of your fuel hoses to your fuel filter could possibly be louse?
When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

the AP reads codes....

its more than likely the fuel pump gasket, I misaligned mine when I swapped pumps out.

I have that smell ever since I got my 34 installed. It's pretty bad and ihave to throw on the air recirculation. I was thinking that i am running the of the shelf map from AP and that it could be running too rich. I will see what happens after my protune
