Fuel Cutoff / Speed Governor

Is there one on an 02 wrx? As far as I know, there have been no mods done to disable one but I never hit it in my car.

If there is one, what is it?

Thanks
Nick

I have an 04 and it went over the 140 mark. Since 140 is the last #'s I can only guess how fast I was going. The needle stopped at a certain point past 140, maybe 145-150.

yeah. I did the same but Im guessing I got to 143. That is why I was wondering... I was expecting the fuel to be cut at some point.

My 03 cutoff at 135, although it was eliminated by Vishnu dyno-tuning my car haha.

I dont think subarus come with one, they're just drag limited to about 150-160 tops.

If you were to go with an aftermarket ecu, like a cobb, would it get rid of the govenor.

There is indeed a rev limiter in the WRX models, which kicks in around 7200k in my 02 WRX. If you ran up to the rev limiter, you would indeed get a fuel cutoff. However, even on the salt flats with a tailwind you would never get there, not even to 145. It just isn't an aerodynamic car, and the turbo would be totally out of its efficiency range.
