exhaust leak after uppipe replacement? (was: Need mental help here...)

So i installed my Titek up pipe this weekend along with a "newer" TD04 mine was gone, and went for a drive to check everything out. I know that when you install a up pipe you will get more noise from the turbo, but this sounded almost like an exhaust leak. Went back to the shop took it all down again and re-tightened the turbo to the up pipe star pattern like you should, started it up and gave it a rev and it still sounded like a little exhaust leak. Am I just paranoid or is it a leak...any help on some trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated...thanks

Can you describe the sound? You will be able to hear more of a "air rushing/whooshing" sound, that is normal. I believe an uppipe leak is described as a loud "shreeking" noise. Did you put on new gaskets?

yea definitly used new gaskets, found the leak today its the first bolt closest to the inlet, but cant get it to seat properly. So gonna take it all down again use a straight edge check the hot side flange for warping as well as the up-pipe, it was a pain in the *** replacing this should of spent the money and now i think i need a new boost control solenoid. Sweet whats next.....thanks for the input..if ya have anymore let me know....

Do you have engine management? 2004+ year wrx's need a reflash (Cobb AP, etc..) when you get rid of cats. The ECU doesnt run right when you open up the exhaust. Prolonged driving/hard driving with aftermarket exhaust without a tune can seriously damage your motor.
